Jamie & Aaron’s Elegant Wedding

Here at Bradfield Stage Lighting, we’ve been as busy as bees lately, but we just had to take a moment to share this with you!

We recently had the fabulous opportunity to work with A Delightful Day, and their name is no misnomer–they were indeed delightful! We provided lighting for Jamie & Aaron’s wedding at the Factory at Franklin–a venue we love! It’s such a great space and so easily adaptable to completely different looks. And who doesn’t love an exposed brick wall?

We were ecstatic to be part of such an incredible team; it was truly an amazing collection of talent! And be sure to check out the Delightful Day blog about the event for more pictures and details on this elegant wedding!

God’s Trombones at Christ Church Cathedral

It always means so much to us when we get kind words from people we work with–customer service is extremely important to us, so hearing that we’ve made people happy is completely heartwarming. As such, we couldn’t resist sharing this delightful message about an event we recently lit!

God’s Trombones, a new dramatization of James Weldon Johnson’s second collection of poetry, was written by Ted Swindley of Always… Patsy Cline fame. It was staged at the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral and directed by Mr. Swindley and Mary McCallum, and featured poetry staged in a unique theatrical musical production.

After the event we received this lovely email from Mr. Swindley:

We were ecstatic to be a part of this beautiful show in such an incredible setting, and we look forward to working with this amazing team again!

New Rosco E-Colours – In Stock

Rosco has added 12 new colors to the E-Colour system and we have all 12 in stock.

E5084 – Damson Violet A deep, rosy violet for saturated washes and modeling effects. A chameleon-like color varying from warm to cool depending on the color temperature of the source.
E5085 – French Lilac An intense, warm lilac for romantic and non realistic accents. Enhances dimensionality when used as a sidelight.
E5211 – Ice Blue A subtle theatrical color corrector. Perfect to pull the red edge off of a tungsten source.
E5264 – Venetian Blue A pale steel blue useful in cool washes. Create subtle shadows or hazy blue skies.
E5287 – Fuji Blue A neutral medium blue, can be warm or cool when paired with contrasting colors. A nice intermediate hue for transitions from magic hour into evening.
E5336 – Aztec Gold A burnt amber with a touch of sepia and a honey-like quality. Very versatile, from soft sunlight effects to richly dingy interiors.
E5404 – Wisteria Soft, pale lavender. Excellent area wash. Good as an intermediary between amber and blue.
E5454 – Olympia Green A strong Green-Blue. Use as an interesting component in animated water effects or to create a mysterious, spooky atmosphere.
E5455 – Tarragon A true pale green neither too blue nor yellow. Useful for forest and garden color washes or foliage shadows in gobos.
E5461 – Grotto Green An exotic turquoise green. A great modelling color – back, side or top light in musical performances or dance.
E5463 – Prussian Green A rich blue-green useful for accents and effect lighting in pantomimes and melodramas. Wonderful contrast to strong golden ambers
E5202 – Max Blue A half blue useful for cooling incandescent towards daylight. Clean with no red.

La Bella Notte 2010

One of the organizations we have been lucky to work with over the years is the amazing Nashville Opera.  They have been creating incredible art for years in Nashville, and that’s just one reason we are so happy to be a part of their annual gala, La Bella Notte.

La Bella Notte 2010 at Loews Vanderbilt Plaza

This year’s event was at the beautiful Loews Vanderbilt Plaza, and the decor was centered around Rigoletto, the powerful Italian opera by Verdi they are producing in April at TPAC. The room was bedecked with red harlequin, the tables were awash in a golden Italianate rosette, and the centerpieces were these amazing masks!

You can also check out the pictures of the event at the Nashville Opera’s special event page–it was quite a fabulous crowd! We were so happy to be a part of this amazing event–many thanks to the hardworking staff at the Nashville Opera for including us!

Live on the Green: The Toadies

Thought it would be fun to share this video with you on a rainy day–it’s the Toadies performing their hit “Possum Kingdom” during the Live on the Green concert series:

Bradfield Stage Lighting provided the stage structure and the lighting for this concert series, and we had a blast doing it! In keeping with the environmentally conscious theme of the series, we used some of the new LED technology–particularly the ETC Selador Paletta 11 fixtures and the Elation Opti Tri-Par LED fixtures–to produce the event with very minimal power consumption.

So if you find yourself in need of a concert rig, give us a call!

All Academy Ball

One of our recent clients was the All Academy & ROTC Parents’ Club of Tennessee, and we were delighted to provide the decor lighting for the All Academy Ball in December at Loews Vanderbilt Plaza. We have been lucky enough to work with this event for several years, and we just received a note from them following this year’s event–we were so tickled, we had to share:

How in the world can I thank you enough for once again making our Military Ball so very, very special with your magical lighting! It adds so much to our evening by making the walls “come alive” with the Military symbols and wintery snowflakes. Your company’s touch sets the tone for the evening–a first class night!

We are just glowing after receiving such a lovely note, and we look forward to this event again in 2010!

Thanks to Wybron for a successful demo day!

Wybron brought their mobile showroom by Wednesday to demo their color-changing product line-up.  From the workhorse ForeRunner Scrollers to the new and very-bright Cygnus LED, there was something for everyone.

The Cygnus uses Red, Green, Blue, and White LEDs with in-lens color mixing for both intense colors and a higher-quality white than you get with RGB LEDs.  We can’t wait to get our hands on a demo in-house for some side-by-side comparisons.  We’ll let you know when it happens.  But for now you’ll have to check out the link:

Live on the Green

Just wanted to share this time lapse video with you of the setup, run, and take down of Live on the Green this past summer:

Live on the Green was a weekly event over the summer sponsored by Lightning 100 and the Mayor’s Office that Bradfield Stage Lighting provided the roof and lighting gear for. Since the event was all about being environmentally conscious, we used some amazing new LED technology to cut our power consumption. All of the stage lights ran off three single circuits! We were so glad to be included as a part of this concert series.

It’s amazing to see a 20 hour day compressed down into an eight minute video!
